By car
Three main axes towards Briançon
North West: Via Col du Lautaret (2058 m), serves Grenoble (2 hours drive). May close in winter after heavy snowfall.
North East: Via Col de Montgenèvre (1850 m), rarely closed. 40 minutes from Oulx and the E70 motorway (Fréjus Tunnel or Turin).
South: Route de Guillestre (35 min) and Gap (1h30), never closed. Tip: In summer, if you are not in a hurry, take the motorway to Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne and climb up to the Col du Galibier (2642 m), one of the highest and most beautiful passes in the French Alps.
Train
There are four possibilities to reach Briançon by train

Option 1: From Paris; Direct Intercités night train (12h): PARIS AUSTERLITZ => BRIANCON. Our favorite choice: fall asleep in Paris, wake up in Briançon!
Option 2: TGV high-speed train (2h30): PARIS GARE DE LYON => VALENCE, then train (5h): Valence => Briançon Champ de Mars.
Option 3: From Valence TER regional train (5h): VALENCE TGV => BRIANCON. This line also passes through Gap.
Option 4: From Marseille TER regional train (5h): MARSEILLE ST CHARLES => BRIANCON. This line also passes through Gap.
Bus LINE 55 (2h50): Grenoble train station => Briançon Place de l’Europe.
Flixbus and other bus services connect Grenoble to many destinations across Europe.
